A word from the Pastor Ceary

I accepted the call to pastor the Linwood Brethren Church in the summer of 1999 following a
half-year of ministry as the interim pastor.  Carroll County has been home to our family since 1982.
Over the years I have served as Pastor of Uniontown Bible Church, Taneytown Christian Fellowship
and Associate Pastor of the Fredericktowne Baptist Church.  Prior to moving to Carroll County I
served churches in Allegany and Grayson Counties, Virginia.

I graduated from Piedmont Bible College, Winston-Salem, NC with a BRE summa cum laude in
1976.  My postgraduate work includes studies in Counseling at the Liberty University and Brethren
studies Ashland Theological Seminary.

I was born in Cripple Creek, VA, a small rural community nestled at the toe of the beautiful Blue
Ridge Mountains.  As a seven-year-old boy I professed faith in Christ and was baptized in Cripple
Creek becoming a charter member of new Baptist church soon to be built on the other side of the
Iron Mountain. Eleven years later, I was asked to serve that congregation while attending college.
These experiences with Appalachian folk have contributed to the color of my down home ministry
style.  Like the pastors of yester-years I still make house calls and enjoy the ministry in a traditional
country church.
